On the second floor of Northpark, next door to Bath and Body Works, is a new addition to the Ridgeland fashion scene. One Stop 601 set up shop in the mall earlier this year to provide vibrant and stylish selections for your closet. Because of the passion and dedication of the owners of One Stop 601, they’ve been able to transition from pop-ups to a brick-and-mortar storefront in Mississippi’s largest indoor shopping center.
Co-Owner Travous Wilson was born and raised in Jackson, attending school and falling in love with the sneaker scene at the same time. Shortly after graduating, his passion for shoes and sneakers led to founding Silent Sole Shoes. After participating in several pop-up shops, Wilson joined with James Smith to have a trial run “one stop” for shoppers’ wardrobes. Smith began Dirty Hearts Apparel to provide colorful and unique clothing so it was a perfect marriage to Wilson’s shoe business. The pair became co-owners of what is now One Stop 601. Later on, Terrell Kennedy of Shoe Paparazzi joined the team to help grow the shoe and sneaker scene.
Currently, their inventory is made up of shirts and shorts, jackets and hoodies, hats and socks, and of course, sneakers. Shoppers will be able to find attire to fit their tastes, and will be reminded of the passion behind the outfit every time they glimpse the phrases, “A Progress Between Love and Hate,” and “Dolor and Amor” embroidered on the fabric. Co-Owner Wilson promised that more items will be available in the future at One Stop 601. In the meantime, a few of his favorite pieces include the store’s best sellers, Nike Dunk Low, as well as the Air Jordan 1 Lost and Found.
As a small business owner, his desire is for small businesses across Jackson to grow. “I hope that people will understand the magnitude of the challenge of starting your own business,” Wilson said. “And that they’ll come to understand sneaker culture and clothing brands. We’re bringing something to Jackson that the city hasn’t seen before, and we appreciate every bit of support.”
